Position Overview

The Scale-Up and Production Expert is responsible for evaluating, organizing tech transfer to, monitoring and managing the relation with custom manufacturers (CMO) performing the production of our ingredients.

This Scale-Up and Production Manager role is best suited for someone with a strong ownership mentality who can operate, lead and interact with the production teams of custom manufacturers. This position requires hands-on implementation and working cross-functionally with the process, analytic, regulatory, quality and commercial teams.

  • Overview and support the evaluation and audit of different custom manufacturing options

  • Lead cross-functional project team that is focused on the commercialization of certain ingredients including the technology transfer of processes from pilot to manufacturing scale

  • Proactively troubleshoots and mitigates complex technical issues associated with tech transfer collaboratively with relevant Inbiose team members

  • Collaborate with process development scientists, operators, analytical chemists and with regulatory, quality and commercial teams.

  • Overview and support of customer audits

  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders through meetings, reports and presentations

  • Reporting to Inbiose Management Committee


Experience and skills

  • Academic degree in biotechnology, bio-engineering or comparable

  • Experience in the scale-up of fermentation and downstream processing processes

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are an essential characteristic of a successful candidate given the high collaborative nature of the position

  • Able to thrive in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced, fluid and international environment

  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills are critical

  • Analytical, attention to detail, versatile and ability to roll up sleeves and get things done

  • Ability to deliver effective technical presentations to stakeholders

  • Willing to travel within Europe and potentially stay several days at the CMO to support the implementation of the tech transfer

  • Experience with advanced data processing software (e.g. R, Python, Julia) is welcomed
