We are looking for a Research Assistant Downstream Processing to join the Inbiose team in Ghent, Belgium.
Belgium-based Inbiose develops biotechnological processes using the proprietary Glycoactives platform to produce specialty carbohydrates such as human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). We are committed to make these complex sugars available to a large set of industries such as infant formula, dietary supplements, functional food & beverages, pet food, .... to meet the global demand for healthy and sustainable food and feed ingredients. You have a BSc in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Industrial science and technology or similar with a interest in biotechnological process development, specifically in purification processes
Knowledge of downstream processing operations is a plus.
You are interested in R&D and the development of novel biotechnological processes and have a critical scientific viewpoint
You have technical insight and a hands-on mentality
You are a team player and will work in a flexible team on the development of new production processes
You are an excellent planner, have an eye for detail, work accurately and aim for qualitative work
You are willing to learn new techniques and expand your knowledge
Experience in following complicated protocols and SOPs
Capability to manage multiple experiments within a single day
You are fluent in English
Perform experiments to evaluate downstream processing unit operations
Maintain and set up different types of purification equipment
Help to develop new downstream processing unit operations in collaboration with the team
Prepare laboratory materials and samples for analysis
Manage and execute complex experimental schedules within a broader team
Maintain, analyze and report experimental data
Collaborate with other scientists on experimental designs
Take on general laboratory responsibilities and apply organizational and creative skills to improve lab operations
Maintain safe practices and work environment
